The Medinah Black Horse Troop is a mounted parade unit that showcases the philanthropic work of the Shrine Organization including the numerous Childrens Hospitals. We have been riding for over fifty years.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to building a safe, fun riding environment which can be enjoyed by all. We encourage family participation in the equine adventure!

      Something we should all remember.

I Am Your Flag

I am your flag.

I was bourn on June 14, 1777.

I am more than cloth just shaped into design.

I am the refluge of the World's oppressed people.

I am the silent sentinel of Freedom.

I am the emblem of the greatest nation on earth.

I am the inspiration for which American Patriots gave their lives and fortunes.

I have led your sons and daughters into battle from Valley Forge to the bloody swamps of Vietnam.

I walk in silence with each of your Honored Dead, to their final resting place beneath the Silent White Markers, row upon row.

I have flown through Peace and War, Strife and Prosperity, and amidst it all I have been respected.

My red Stripes, symbolize the blood spilled in defense of this glorious nation.

My White Stripes, signify the burning Tears, shed by Americans who lost their sons and daughters.

My Blue field is indicative of God's Heavin under which I fly.

My Stars, Clustered together unify 50 States as One for God and Country.

"Old Glory" is my nickname, and proudly I wave on high.

Honor me, Respect me, Defend me with your lives and fortunes.

Never let my enemies tear me down from my Lofty position, lest I never return.

Keep alight the fires of Patriotism; strive Earnestly for the spirit of Democracy.

Worship Eternal God and keep His Commandments, and I shall remain the bulwark of peace and Freedom for all Mankind.

Our first Parade will be Lombard May Sun. 20th.

  Until we meet again.

NOTE:    In 2002 while the troop was at the International in Van Couver, B.C., we had just finished breakfust as a group and were heading to our cars.  A woman in her late thirties was coming in the resturant and was kindly holding the door as we exited.  She reached out and with a big smile on her face extended her hand to us.  She remarked that as a child, she had been a patient of the Shrine Hospitals and she never forgot the kindness shown to her.  She just wanted to say thank you!

Again in December 2005 while ringing bells for the Salvation Army a young man thanked me for helping him.  When he was very young and his Father was in the Army he went to one our Hospitals.  He could not say enough about what we had done for him and his father who could not afford this type of help on his Army pay.
