The Medinah Black Horse Troop is a mounted parade unit that showcases the philanthropic work of the Shrine Organization including the numerous Childrens Hospitals. We have been riding for over fifty years.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to building a safe, fun riding environment which can be enjoyed by all. We encourage family participation in the equine adventure!

                                     RECIPE FOR QUICHE LORRAINE
The best way to have quiche for dinner is to make it up and put it in the oven at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Meanwhile, get out a large T-bone steak, grill it and when it's done, eat it. As for the quiche, continue to let it bake until it looks like a hockey puck and then throw it away.

                                                     COWBOY WISDOM
Makin' it in life is kinda like busting Broncs: you're gonna get thrown a lot. The secret is gettin' back on.

We have stalls available for lease at the present time. (630) 690-8592

NOTE:    In 2002 while the troop was at the International in Van Couver, B.C., we had just finished breakfust as a group and were heading to our cars.  A woman in her late thirties was coming in the resturant and was kindly holding the door as we exited.  She reached out and with a big smile on her face extended her hand to us.  She remarked that as a child, she had been a patient of the Shrine Hospitals and she never forgot the kindness shown to her.  She just wanted to say thank you!

Again in December 2005 while ringing bells for the Salvation Army a young man thanked me for helping him.  When he was very young and his Father was in the Army he went to one our Hospitals.  He could not say enough about what we had done for him and his fater who could not afford this type of help on his Army pay.
